A month back, in May, I had an opportunity to work as an intern in Psychowellness Centre, Dwarka, New Delhi. Initially, I was scared and not so enthusiastic about doing an internship, since I wanted to take up a career in Clinical Psychology and I was a little wary as one of my mentors had told me that internships can change your interest in your specified specialization. But, to my surprise, it was actually an amazing and life changing experience- I got to interact with other interns, learn how to make case histories, learn about mental disorders, how to read the DSM-5-TR including the ICD-10-CM codes, psychotherapies and their worksheets, treatment plans and much more. They also had activities like role-playing as a psychologist/client, blog writing, observing sessions and assessments. I would like to thank my internal supervisor, Ms. Sakshi Dhankhar, for providing me with unwavering support and guidance, I feel like it is also important to note that she always provided me with suitable tasks whenever I asked for more of them, she always addressed my curiousity about disorders without fail. Having discussions with Dr. R.K. Suri, a clinical psychologist with over 42+ years of experience also turned out to be a very insightful and helpful guide towards my career. Overall, this internship got me more interested in the field of clinical psychology, also helping me improve my leadership skills quite a lot while interacting with other interns and taking up responsibilities.

Hi, I’m Srijana! Currently pursuing an honors degree in BA Psychology. I completed my internship at Psychowellness Centre, Janakpuri, under the guidance of Dr. R.K. Suri and Utkarsh Sir. This internship was a valuable opportunity for me to connect my theoretical knowledge with real-world practice. I got to analyse and witness first-hand how to behave with clients, and how therapeutic practise actually takes place. I learned practical information with regards to digital marketing such as lead generation, how to curate social media content. I learned more about different forms of psychological assessments like HAM-A, BDI, how we make a genogram, and why it's necessary. They also had activities like role-playing as a psychologist/client, blog writing. The clinical cases varied: from job or career dissatisfaction to neurodegenerative disorders, each must be treated differently and with empathy, and how interventions may take place. The exposure was intense, to real life work settings and the field of psychology both. Now, I feel more confident stepping out in pursuit of work opportunities, and know what field/s of psychology my interests align with.

My name is Sarika, and I recently completed a one-month internship at Psychowellness Center, Janakpuri. As a psychology honours graduate, this experience really helped me connect what I’ve studied with how things actually work in a clinical setting. During my time here, I got to observe counselling sessions, understand how case history and MSE are taken, and learn how different psychological assessments are conducted and scored. Seeing how reports are actually formed from all of this was something I found especially useful, as it showed me the level of detail and understanding required in clinical work. I was also exposed to different disorders, therapies, and intervention techniques, which made my learning much more practical. I also had the opportunity to observe and be a part of Occupational Therapy sessions with children, which gave me a completely new perspective and taught me a lot about patience and working with different needs. What made this internship stand out was the guidance from the supervisors and psychologists at the center. They were always approachable, supportive, and took the time to explain things clearly. This made the entire learning process much more engaging and comfortable. Overall, this experience has made me feel more confident, aware, and clear about my direction in psychology. It has definitely strengthened my interest in the field. I’m really grateful for everything I got to learn here and for the supportive environment throughout.

I completed my internship at the PSYCHOWELLNESS centre, Dwarka, New Delhi, during the month of June and July. During my internship, l had worked under the mentor of Ms. SAKSHI DHANKHAR, she provided me a lot of practical knowledge through the Counselling sessions and she also taught me about the psychological assessments like - BDI, TAT, INTERNET ADDICTION, HAS and some tests for children like- ADHD and MISIC. She also gave me a lot of knowledge regarding the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)and Rational Emotions Behavioral Therapy (REBT). Really, her way of teaching is very nice and she also gave homework for enhance our skills. We have to complete that work and present at the presentation form, posters and by verbally. I had also learned about the GROUP THERAPY and ART THERAPY very well under her guidance. And l also interacting with Dr. R.K SURI, a clinical psychologist with over 41 years of experience, was incredibly insightful. His guidance offered valuable perspective and encouragement on my journey towards becoming a psychologist.
