A month back, in May, I had an opportunity to work as an intern in Psychowellness Centre, Dwarka, New Delhi. But, to my surprise, it was actually an amazing and life changing experience- I got to interact with other interns, learn how to make case histories, learn about mental disorders, how to read the DSM-5-TR including the ICD-10-CM codes, psychotherapies and their worksheets, treatment plans and much more. They also had activities like role-playing as a psychologist/client, blog writing, observing sessions and assessments. I would like to thank my internal supervisor, Ms. Sakshi Dhankhar, for providing me with unwavering support and guidance, I feel like it is also important to note that she always provided me with suitable tasks whenever I asked for more of them, she always addressed my curiousity about disorders without fail. Having discussions with Dr. R.K. Suri, a clinical psychologist with over 42+ years of experience also turned out to be a very insightful and helpful guide towards my career. Overall, this internship got me more interested in the field of clinical psychology, also helping me improve my leadership skills quite a lot while interacting with other interns and taking up responsibilities.

A month back, I got an opportunity to join the Psychowellness Center for my summer internship. It has been a very fulfilling experience for me. My learnings at the Psychowellness Centre include: taking case history, mental status examination, administration of psychological tests, enhancing active listening skills through role plays, and the basics of psychotherapy. My supervisor, Ms.Sakshi Dhankhar, has been very supportive and addressed my curiosity about neurodevelopmental disorders. My favorite part of the internship was observing ABA sessions with children. Having discussions with Dr.Suri regarding career prospects in psychology and the changing narrative around mental health services in India has been insightful.

My name is Damini Sharma, and I am currently pursuing a BA+MA in Clinical Psychology from Amity University. I did a one-month internship program at Dwarka Clinic of Psychowellness Center under the supervision of Dr (Prof.) R.K. Suri and Ms Sudipta Das. Along with the basics and ethics of therapy and counselling, I learnt so much in terms of assessment, scoring, and interpretation of both objective and projective tests.
